Vista stuck at blue screen
Bottom left of the second window. You should be able to run startup repair from here, and it should recover your operating system to the default state. Rollin' Rog. Joined Dec 9, Messages 45, Close the command prompt window and reboot the computer. Hi, all. I have tried to get the boot menu using the F8 key, but it never will display it.
How do I get to the Windows recovery environment from here? There are 2 methods, depending on whether you have an installation disk, or the recovery environment is pre-installed. Both are discussed here.
Do make sure you are pressing F8 immediately as the computer starts up. Thank you for the help! I just kept holding down the F8 key until it finally gave me the recovery environment. To answer your question below, Yes, I did see the screen you have pasted in the post. I did try the advanced options but it didn't help. So, now I'm at the command prompt, and when I try to rename the listed files, I get this message: "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
Thank you again for all your help!! Yeah, I don't think you will get a different result, but give it a shot. Try "system restore" from those choices if you can, as well. That would really be my first choice. To be honest I hadn't tried the "manual" procedure on Vista before, but there was a similar one for XP that worked from the "recovery console". Howevever you may need the Vista CD for this one.
If you know someone who has one, you can borrow it. This would allow you to make those changes using normal file renaming and copy procedures without actually being in any part of the Windows environment on the damaged computer. It is always advisable to back up before you start and while this should come automatically there are times when it should be done more regularly — this is one of them.
Once the screen is where it needs to be removed. Remember what you were doing when this screen appeared and this could identify the software that is to blame. This may make it easy to get your computer working again. The code error should help you decide what to do and you can think about any recent changes you have made to your device. Finally, you can try updating the drives.
Graphics card drivers are often to blame, and uninstalling specific items may get you back on track. It is bound to be a problem in the hardware that causes the Blue screen of Death on a computer.
If it is not that then the best guess will be hardware driver software. Quite often the issue will be due to low-level software that is running in the Windows kernel.
It is very unlikely that it will be a regular app that will be the cause, but on occasions, this could be the case. The operating system will not be taken out through an app crashing so don't waste time looking at them as the cause of the screen. A STOP error is a catalyst for a blue screen appearing. When it happens there will be a complete crash and Windows will no longer perform. All that will happen is that the PC will restart but the bad news is that it will not save any previously unsaved data as the programs do not get the chance to do this.
One reason can be corrupt files or the loss of data. This can be more expensive to deal with for a company than an individual but it is still best to avert it when you can. If the problem can be solved in the house this will be best but it is not always an option. If a file becomes corrupted you will not be able to open or use it. Incorrect instructions. Too technical. Not enough information. Not enough pictures. Any additional feedback?
Submit feedback. Hey all. I have an Asus computer model NX90JQ , which after an upgrade to Windows 10 a month or so ago began acting dodgy pretty much straight off the bat, such that I got to the point of never shutting it down or putting it into sleep mode because trying to get it to restart was such a terribly difficult task.
Now the problem has gone from bad to worse, as last night it shut itself down, and upon attempting to restart it, I was confronted with a blue screen which looks something like this. And that's it. At the bottom of the screen it gives me the option of continuing on by either pressing f8 or enter, however pressing those buttons does nothing but bring me back to the same recovery screen.
So I am truly stuck. I have no installation media and no repair or restore disc because this version of Windows 10 was a free Microsoft download which kept popping up on my screen until finally I said "Hey, why not", despite the fact that Vista was running fine for me.
Now I'm regretting that decision a bit, but mostly just wanting advice on how to get out of this recovery screen and get my PC back to where it can start again normally and I can actually use it. We're sorry to hear the inconvenience you have experienced. Did you made any changes to your PC prior to this problem? Does it responds when you press BIOS setup keys? If you say yes for the last question, then let us try to repair your computer by creating a Windows 10 Bootable media I.
Use some other PC connected to Internet for creating a Bootable media. Once you're ready with Bootable Media, follow the below mentioned steps.
