Kingston, ON. This was an excellent review of the AXE Peace commercial. I really enjoyed your detailed analysis of the work as Islamaphobic.
I thought it was interesting that you acknowledged the vast differences in lifestyle which the Chinese woman and North American soldier share; such a stark contrast certainly paints the East as an impoverished, preindustrial country. Great review of this commercial!
The amount of detail you put into analyzing Islamophobia and its relationship with elements in the short advertisement was also amazing and gave an accurate look at the components of Islamophobia that were visible throughout the ad. Very enjoyable read! I really enjoyed reading this review. It was thorough and you did a good job of talking about Islamaphobia.
The commercial really did make the East look inferior to the West, making it seem like the East always needs saving. Although the larger message is great behind this advertisement, they should not have made the East seem violent, dominant and savage. Great review, you had great points and it was easy to follow.
This was a thorough and very well-written critique of this questionable advertisement. Many overt statements about the political and economic situations of the East versus the West were apparent, and you did a great job of deconstructing them. You are commenting using your WordPress. That being said, we noticed that the main objective of this advertising campaign was to strengthen the Axe body spray image by showing that nuns are just as attracted by men wearing Axe than other women.
That is why they need to put a clothespin on their nose not to smell the fragrance and succumbing to the desire. Thus, is the power of Axe scent strong enough to overcome the eternal commitment of nuns with the Church..?
This is exactly the question Axe wants the target to arise. Here, as a matter of fact, behind the image of the nun with the clothespin on her nose, there is a promise of satisfaction. If the nun can also succumb to the temptation of Axe perfume, then there is a guarantee of its efficiency over ALL women. This campaign is for men who use deodorant but more broadly to all men who want to seduce and attract women.
This subtle and shifted message is more for young men years old who are more receptive to this kind of references and who will probably buy the Axe body spray in a way to feel more attractive in everyday life. Here, the idea is to associate the Axe product to the fantasy of the "wanton nun. Since Argentina is a very religious country, this ad led to an even stronger controversy.

This is the center and focal point of the whole ad. Well, moving on from the legs, the next thing to take notice in is the upper half walking with a woman, that appears to be his girlfriend, maybe even his wife. Her being his wife is immediately discarded once you notice the man has no ring on his finger.
The couple appear to be dressed fairly casually and having a great time together. After checking out the people, we move our way to the text. Very commonly, advertisers will play with your emotions and passions. Axe is selling their body spray by unconsciously showing men that it will also satisfy their sexual wants.
