Norton web page scanner

My NIS version is If you are talking about the toolbar identity safe notation , then this is how it looks. But when you log on to Identity Safe the toolbar looks like the second image.

And as silver said NIS should have blocked the site , safe web should have notified me or Intrusion prevension should have blocked. I was just browsing on google when I clicked a site by mistake and that page opened. About other browers , Firefox and chrome blocked it I cant believe that browers can block it and NIS can't!!! Shridhar, that's not the case. I just tested it on two computers. The lock symbol is not related to being signed in, but to Safe Web being enabled.

Try it yourself. Number 1, the open lock, shows that Safe Web is enabled. Number 2, the closed lock, shows that Safe Web is not enabled. I would think that, logically, it should be the other way around, i.

Safe Web enabled with closed padlock. Don't know what is happening on your two computers because the lock symbol has nothing to do with Safe Web. It has to do with Identity Safe. Can you check those systems again? I believe the Shopping Cart is related to Safe Web. The Green Check is related to the AntiPhishing protection. I had this wrong in the earlier post; sorry.

As to the Lock symbol changing with Safe Web, one has to close the browser to change the Safe Web activity, could this closing have been what logged out Identity Safe? As for what happened on my computer, the answer is simple: There is a five to ten second delay in icon response. I was flipping through the scenarios faster than the icon was responding. Had I just waited 10 seconds each time, it would have been clear. I just wanted to add some information on the discussion of Safe Web that really started this thread.

Originally the decision was made to only warn the user that there is something malicious on the web site. The user can go there at their own risk. So work is under way to build and improve on this. Just wanted this known that this is the start not the "end all" of Safe Web. And yes I got info that Kaspersky ,Eset also failed only Mcafee blocked it so I would be patient some more time.

I was surfing on the internet when I clicked on a website accidently and it suddenly opened an online fake scan page and it was showing me exaggerated reports of how my system was full of viruses. Here is the screenshot I am wondering that why did NIS not block the webpage from opening?

How can it be? What was that multilayered NIS protection system was doing??? I have the same question 0. Compumind Regular Contributor 5. Stu Guru Norton Fighter Reg: Apr Norton Safe Web feature: Website ratings. Websites may be easy to create, but not all are made the same with regard to their security.

Legitimate websites can be targeted by cybercriminals, older websites that are no longer managed may not be properly supported with good security, and some websites are built specifically to spread malware. If these types of things are true about a given site, Norton Safe Web will warn you before you visit, and you can decide whether or not to proceed to that site.

The website ratings also include an explanation of why the site is rated unsafe along with recommendations, so you then can make an informed decision when it comes to visiting websites. Is your browser making a loud noise telling you that your machine is infected and you must call a toll-free number to fix the security issue? Is a site telling you that you must log-in to confirm your recent credit card transactions?

Online banking threats such as banking Trojans can infect computers and mobile devices alike, and can be used to steal bank log-in credentials. Norton customers have told us that they want extra peace of mind when they are performing financial transactions online, so we have added the Online Banking Protection feature in Norton Safe Web. With Online Banking Protection, Norton Safe Web automatically detects when you visit a banking site, and then it launches the banking session in an isolated and protected mode.

IPS plays a critical role in filling holes created by bugs in operating systems, browsers and applications. IPS detects and helps stop exploitations of security vulnerabilities. IPS has been a part of Norton Device Security solutions for some time, but now that it is also a part of the Norton Safe Web browser extension, the content of suspicious web pages, advertisements and popups are now cross-examined in an additional way, giving you even more protection when you browse the Web.

Norton Safe Web feature: Link Guard. Webmail and social media are great tools for keeping in touch with friends and family, but unfortunately, they can also contain phishing attacks. In a phishing attack, cybercriminals lure you to click a link or download an attachment, often in a message that seems to be coming from someone you already know and trust. When you see an email with links urging you to open or download, it can be difficult to know if the link is really from a friend, or is leading to compromised sites or to run malware once you click.

Our team has taken the guesswork out: Now, Norton Safe Web will scan webmail and feeds for links and mark them with red if the link is likely to be suspicious or malicious. Norton Safe Web feature: Isolation for suspicious sites. Norton Safe Web warns you of websites that may be suspicious.

Sometimes after seeing the warning, our customers still want to visit the site. To help protect your devices in this scenario, Norton Safe Web in conjunction with Norton Device Security solutions such as Norton solutions enable you to visit the site in an isolated environment.

To do this, we use a virtualization technology that isolates the link you are about to visit, and the actual navigation to the suspicious link is done on a Norton server, rather than on your own computer. I am a current Norton user with a device security solution. Why is my solution showing a red warning about Norton Safe Web? Because the Norton Safe Web browser extension is so important to helping protect your web browsing, we have a notification in red for current customers with device security, saying to enable it.

While we want all users to use the extension, we have added the ability to snooze or disable the red state warning to get back to the green state, even if you choose not to use the Norton Safe Web browser extension. Any time you add additional security there can be a slight performance tradeoff. We do extensive testing to optimize the performance to make it as minimally noticeable as we can, but if you encounter an issue related to performance, please let us know and we can try to reproduce the issue and work to fix it.

I had experiences with the extension blocking good sites in the past. Could that still happen now? Norton Isolation Mode uses Web Isolation technology to provide an additional layer of security when you use certain sites.

Norton Isolation Mode enables you to connect to the site you want to visit via a Norton server in the cloud. No, the Norton Safe Web extension does not modify your search engine preference. We do have a separate extension called Norton Safe Search that does send you to our customized search engine. Is the protection available in the Norton SafeWeb browser extension new?

Whether you have the Norton Safe Web browser extension installed and active or not, if you have a Norton Device Security solution installed on your device, you are already receiving multiple layers of protection against a wide variety of cyberthreats. Installing the Norton Safe Web extension gives you even more protection by enabling you to take advantage of the new features described above.

Screens are simulated and subject to change. Norton Safe Web helps you surf, search and shop more safely online. Now, Norton Safe Web has new features to help protect in new ways.
